USB-AC68 Slow download after W10 Creators update solution. Discussion in 'ASUS AC Routers & Adapters' started by timex18, Apr 11. I'm having the exact same issue with a Asus USB-AC68 and a USB-AC56R. Before the Windows 10 Creators 64 bit update, I was getting 350 Mbps down. Uninstalled the Asus driver and reinstalled with same results. The ASUS USB-AC68 is a pocket-sized WiFi USB adapter that provides notebooks an instant upgrade to ultra-fast dual-band 802.11ac speeds of up to 1900Mbps. It features a powerful three-transmit, four-receive (3x4) MIMO design with two external.

Pros: When it works it can get pretty good speeds. I'm on Google fiber, but my apartment is not well setup for running ethernet cables all over.

So I decided to go with this device as it came highly recommended on various 'Top 10' sites. I installed the drivers that came on the CD, plugged it in, restarted the computer and for a few glorious minutes I was able to download a game at top speeds of 32MB/s (maxing out my HDD write speed). Cons: As the day wore on, the device just continued to disconnect and my wifi connection would disappear, or I could continue to connect to the network but still not access the internet, despite the signal strength being at 100%. The device runs very hot. I tried switching to a USB 2.0 port and this resulted in getting no connection whatsoever. Finally I just uninstalled the drivers to see what performance the default Microsoft driver would provide and now I only get the most basic speed of 1Mb/s (little b bit this time) but the connection is stable. Other Thoughts: I should have looked at other reviews before going out and buying this one.

Luckily the place I purchased it from has a 30 day no questions asked return guarantee. Unfortunately, every other 802.11ac enabled USB Wi-Fi dongle seems to have similar reviews about disconnection issues.

This is simply unacceptable. Pros: looks nice. Cons: Incredibly bad experience. Hard insane frustrations to getting drivers on their site because a bug wouldn't let me go beyond selecting which o/s (tried with IE, Firebox and a fresh, vanilla chrome install). To the point I wanted to destroy the new adapter. Then using the reviews to find a direct link to download the latest drivers, get it working, seems good and stable. Write review and it starts to disconnect and continues to disconnect.

I re-installed drivers, checked wireless settings on router, researched and researched no help. Finally found a link on microsoft from a user who wrote about another user so fed up with ASUS they came up with a driver solution. So far so good.

Asus used to be a brand that was solid, best motherboards bar none for years. I've been a loyal customer of theirs since the late 90s, but the last 5 years has been nothing but grief from them. And an apology on a forum is useless, fix your underlying issues with your drivers!!!! Good hardware, horrible drivers, horrible help desk and horrible support. I deleted last post as I couldn't figure out how to edit a review and I also wanted to respond to the ASUS rep. I clearly indicated your helpdesk is horrible and apologies are useless.

Yet apologize and recommend the help desk you did! No thank you Asus rep, I will NOT be calling your useless help desk, stop recommending something that is useless. ASUS Customer Loyalty. Pros: Ostensibly, it's really fast Cons: -None of the advanced driver settings are actually explained in case you need to troubleshoot anything -Doesn't support DFS channels, making a good chunk of 5 GHz totally unusable -OS X driver never worked, and it's clear ASUS put zero effort into making an installer for it. Other Thoughts: Given the almost complete lack of documentation provided with the product for troubleshooting, OS X, or getting it to do anything that would have required actual effort on the part of the developers, makes me wholeheartedly recommend any other manufacturer. Hey yall, Would anyone happen to have any experience with the Asus PCE-AC68 Wifi card (Broadcom BCM4360)? I'm having trouble getting the drivers to work. Every time I install the driver, the device will be recognized, but device manager throws an Error 10 (device won't start) in the properties page. I know that it's trying to tell me that the driver is incompatible, but I have tried most of the stable drivers from Asus and all have given me the same result. I tried contacting support, but Asus support told me that it was an AMD compatibility issue, and therefore not their problem. AMD support then told me that my device was at end-of-life and not likely to get updates from them.

They then directed me to Microsoft, whose customer service turned into a really incompetent time suck. Long story short, everyone just pointed fingers at each other and really weren't any help at all. I can believe that it's an AMD chipset issue (I've always had issues with PCI-E and SATA on the platform), but I also don't want it to be. Any thoughts? I found the solution; reverting from Fall Creators Update (1709) to Creators Update (1703) solved the problem. Unfortunately for me, that meant reinstalling Windows from scratch. It seems that the latest update breaks device identification on AMD systems and attempts to load both the generic driver and the device specific driver simultaneously, causing device failure.

I found out that moving the card to another PCI slot made win10 recognize the card as a Broadcom and win10 installed driver automatic. For me problem solved.

I just got myself a new WiFi adapter, the Asus USB-AC68 USB 3.0 adapter. Downloaded the latest driver from Asus and hooked it up to the SS USB 3.1 Gen 1 port on the back of my MSI B150 Gaming M3 motherboard. After the installation it gave me the following message: 'You have connected your device to an Asmedia USB 3.0 port. To improve functionality, upgrade the supported USB 3.0 driver.

Do you want to upgrade the USB 3.0 driver?' As my motherboard don't have any USB drivers on their service site I clicked No and rebooted my PC. After a few minutes of usage the adapter started re-connecting non-stop until I removed it from the port.

I tried hooking it up again but the same thing happend over and over again until I decided to try and re-install the driver. This time I clicked Yes when it asked me to update the USB 3.0 driver. However after another few minutes the adapter started re-connecting again. This time I tried connecting it to the normal USB 3.0 ports on the front panel of my case and now its working as it should and have all night. I know there is nothing wrong with my USB 3.1 ports on the back of my motherboard as I use those ports very often for my USB 3.0 Corsair GTX drive. Any advice on this? I would love to use the adapter on the back of my motherboard and not the front panel as the adapter is in the way.
