I know that many ppl already wrote about this all over the net, but I'll point to problem again. Maybe someone from here knows the solution. And yes, I searched discussions, but I have not found the solution.

If theres solution, please post the link. And sorry for bothering the forum. To most of the posters: Please, read once again the problem, than answer. In this situation, nothing is connected with double or triple or x-le entires in PhoneBook on the telephone and/or SIM card. For some other situations - yes, but in this - NO.

I have Nokia 6120c (Symbian, S60 3rd edition platform, Feauture Pack 1, Firmware 5.11 - the latest) and I have the problem. I will try to repeat steps which lead to problem: 1. You DO NOT HAVE number + number in your phone (and, yes, I'm sure I do not have this number in my phone, SIM card or anywhere else in my pocket) 2. You recieve SMS from this number (some good looking lady wants to hang out with me;) 3. You read the message and save the number (no matter of way saving it - pls do not bother with tips&tricks on this) *** You notice the message sender field in Inbox is still shown in number, not in name*** 4.

Version 1:You reply to message by direct reply. *** You notice that recip field in SMS is correctly shown in Sent Messages*** 4. Version 2:You reply to message by creating new message and chosing the recip from the PhoneBook. *** You notice that your SMS is correctly show recip.

Name in Sent Messages*** 4. Version 3:You reply to message by creating new message and typing + in the recip field. *** You notice that your SMS's recip name is not shown, just number, in Sent Messages*** 5. You get new message from that number.

*** You notice message is correctly shown in Inbox*** '' Every message you are sending from Nokia PC Suite (even the latest, 7.0.8.2) is not correctly saved in Sent Messages. Somehow, the message database, or whatever it is, is not updating the fields in DB or in headers.

What does this mean: You can try this (and I bet it will work like It works on my phone): Make sure you have at least one message from someone in your phonebook. Than open the PhoneBook, find that name and change it. Open the Inbox now and you will see that message sender field IS NOT updated. This means: when you recieve message, it will be saved forever like that. English movies in hindi.

No matter you are changing the name or last name or whatever you want of sender contact in PhoneBook. Now, I saw somewhere that even N95 and many other models (and I bet most of S60) have the same problem.

This is not bug! Bug is something else, but this isn't. Download free mp3 song ride it hindi version by jay sean.

This is lack of feauture or badly implemented feauture or even compromise. Does anyone remember old good Nokia 3310. When you have many messages in your Inbox, it takes forever to open it.

Cose phone sync SMS sender every time with PhoneBook. I am proud owner of several generations SE models.

Even my older SE Z610i does this thing completly normal. No matter I have 500 messages in Inbox.

It will update every message with currently senders name in PhoneBook (sometimes it takes 1/4 second to do that, but it does that). Cose, I never had any problems with that, and I wanted to try 'magic' called S60 platform, I decided to buy this Nokia. Of course there are some pretty good things in this platform, but this thing about messages are freaking me completly! I know, I have more than 800 messages in my boxes (Inbox + Sent Messages + My folders) and I know that syncing every time senders/recip names would make messaging really tough job, but engineers from Nokia can make one little program called Update me! Which will update wrong fields in message boxes.

I tried to copy/move/move-copy messages to Mem Card and vice versa. Turning off/on the phone did not help. One time I moved all messages on the Mem card, turned off the phone, and put memory card in my laptop.

In Explorer I found files and folders which are storing my messages. And some other things.

Its completly chaos! I know, I am not engineer for this, but Is this the best you (Engineers from Nokia) can do? Is this yours message DB/DBs. I know.Storing messages in one file would make loading inbox extremly long.

Golden Python Snake

Storing every message in separate files would make loading chaotic. And if you try to make some sub for reflecting phonebook entires in whole DB, it will make phone extremly hot. But, you must find some way. Look, what MS Outlook has. Archive options - Voila! Everybody who recieve hundred mails per week knows why archive exist (those who don't know, I hope you will never find yourself in situation to know). Figure out something, turn on your imagination.

And fix this problem. Sorry if my English is not good enough for you guys. I saw theres no person on this planet who can help me with this. So, I made decission to make my own application for this. I'm not new to programming. Since I was 11 I started programming in VisualBasic.

But it's for Windows, not Symbian. So, I decided to pick Python as my language in Symbian s60.

It's really easy making theese thing to work on your phone and to write little application for it. But, after searching several days i saw theres no way to do this in Python for S60. The only thing you can change in SMS in python is Read-Unread state. Maybe, in some future editions of Python for S60 it will be possible to change sender field, but in this - not. But (2nd one but), there is way to change it thrue C++. But I dont know anything in C++, and I am not sure if I want to spend my free time of learning it just to write this application. C++ is not for begginers.

It is robust language made for someone with basics in it. If any programmer read this post, we can somehow talk so we can build application for doing this thing right.

Zdravo Hole!:) Yeah, I know that. Yesterday i was in caffe with my good friend. He is pretty good app maker for Windows Mobile OS. He has T-Mobile MDA 200 or something like that and he has the same problem.

The contents of phonebook is not reflecting to the contents of SMS sender field. The problem is not in number of messages, it's the problem if you have one or 10 or 5000 messages. It seams that Windows Mobile is functioning like S60. I can't wait until T-Mobile relise his G1 phone (Google Android platform). I hope it will work on that platform. If not, I will stay on S60 until I found some good monney to buy new SE. I will also try to make application which will try to solve this thing.

But, I'm not sure will I found free time to learn Symbian C++ and to make app then. If the number was not in Contacts before you got a new message, then updating Contacts later will not update the old messages (or replies made to the old messages later). That's how S60 phones have always behaved, and still seem to do. A bit annoying at times, but nothing a user can do to change the behaviour.

I don't know the behaviour has changed in, e.g., S60 5th Edition (and 5800 XpressMusic). In any case, if this is now different in a new S60 version, it probably won't ever be changed in old S60 versions and old devices. As a previous owner of a 6120c, and that being my first S60 device, I was also disappointed with S60 lacking some basics features that most phones seems to have. As I can recall correctly, this is a non-issue in Nokia S40 devices, as the Nokia 6233 I had a few years ago was able to update the SMS once the number was added to Contacts. As another instance of S60 lacking basic features, just compare the Calculator application available in current S40 and S60 devices, they are poles apart!!! I know that Nokia tried to address this particular issue by porting the S40 calculator to S60 through a Nokia Beta Labs project, but it seems to have been abandoned now.
